Academic profiles

Background

I am a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Educational Studies at the Universidad de Caldas, and in the Psychology Programme at the Universidad de Manizales, Colombia, since 2009. At the universities where I work I teach Cognitive Neuropsychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, learning assessment, personality and cognitive self-regulation across different undergraduate programmes in education and psychology; I also serve as a guest lecturer in various graduate programmes in Neuropsychopedagogy, Education and Child Development.
In my undergraduate training I hold a degree in Education from the Universidad Católica de Manizales and a degree in Psychology from the Universidad de Manizales, with graduate specialisations in University Teaching, which I completed at the Universidad Católica, and in Neuropsychopedagogy, which I completed at the Universidad de Manizales. As for my Master’s degrees, I hold a Master’s in Education with an emphasis on Pedagogical Relationships, a programme I completed with the Universidad Javeriana of Bogotá and the Universidad de Caldas, and I also hold a Master’s in Neuropsychology, a programme I completed at the Universidad San Buenaventura of Medellín. I am currently finishing the final report of my Doctoral thesis in Cognitive Sciences, a programme I am pursuing at the Universidad Autónoma de Manizales.

My professional experience began as a university lecturer at undergraduate level when I was about to turn 20. From the very start of my career I have been involved in different teaching, research and outreach activities aimed at the ongoing training of teachers and psychologists, across various subjects addressing the relationship between the brain and cognition. Throughout my research career I have worked in different fields of study that link the assessment and the neuropsychological bases of learning, with a special vocation and love for the study of metacognition and its relationship with different cognitive variables, such as, more recently, the study of its relationships with executive functions.
